IT classes will run from Thursday 6th September until Thursday 11th October 2018 (6 weeks). Booking is required. Free. You can choose to attend one of the following:

Location 1: Ewart Road Community Club House 44 Wastdale Road, Forest Hill, SE23 1HN. Time: 10:30am-12:00pm.

Location 2: Lee Green Lives Community Centre, 3, Leegate, London SE12 8SS. Time: 2:00-3:30pm.

Osteopathy Service

OsteopathyMark Woolman is offering reduced rate osteopathic treatment for carers on Tuesday evenings between 4pm and 8pm at Carers Lewisham.

Osteopathy is an effective and gentle form of manual therapy for discomfort related to posture and movement.

Complementary Therapies

24726Every Tuesday, 4-8pm, at Carers Lewisham we offer a choice of two different therapies that will help you to relax and have a break.

  • Aromatherapy Massage and Reflexology: Laura (07973-183 711)
  • Reflexology and Indian head massage and seated acupressure massage: Catherine (07751-551 203)

The service has a price of £10 for half an hour. You can book your place calling directly the numbers above.

Coffee Mornings

Would you like an opportunity to get information and support? Our regular weekly Coffee Mornings are open to all carers of any age or caring responsibility.

We organise regular weekly Coffee Mornings and Carers Support Groups at different locations in the Lewisham borough. You can drop in to the session and no booking needed. Expect a warm welcome!

Every Tuesday, 10.30am-12.30pm, Carers Lewisham, Forest Hill.

On the second Wednesday of the month, 11.30am-1.30pm. South Lewisham GP.

 

Male Carers Support

Close-up-of-a-diverse-group-of-men1Many men are carers too and sometimes they get overlooked. If you would like to meet up with other men who have caring responsibilities for mutual advice and support, plus occasional outings, Carers Lewisham has a support group for men who are carers that meets once a month at Carers Lewisham on the last Thursday of the month 10.30-12.30.

Mental Health Carers’ Support

mentalhealthDo you care for or support a relative who has mental health problems such as bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, clinical depression or eating disorders?

Carers Lewisham has a worker who supports carers that care for relatives with mental health difficulties, and carers who themselves may have mental health difficulties such as anxiety or depression.

Compass Centre on the last Tuesday of the month 5.30-7.30pm.

 

 

Smart App Club: join us and apply for jobs

Smash laptopEvery Wednesday, from 2.00 to 4.00 pm, you can join the group to practice your IT skills, focus on your job search and applications, with the support of the Working for Carers team.

Don’t struggle alone – enjoy some tea and biscuits whilst sharing tips and tricks over job hunting with other participants.

You can bring your own laptop or we can provide one for the session. The sessions are completely free for those eligible and registered with Working for Carers. Booking is required. Free

 

Mental Health Forum

Join the Carers Mental Health Forum! It’s open to anyone who looks after a relative or friend with mental health issues.

Every last Tuesday of the month, 1.30-3pm at Carers Lewisham, Waldram Place, Forest Hill, SE23 2LB.

VOLUNTEER

 

Without volunteer support we would not be able to provide the wide range of support we offer to carers in the borough.

ALL volunteers are valued members of the Carers Lewisham Team.

Where appropriate we offer training and supervision as well as social events and we participate in National Volunteer Week annually.

Health Checks for Carers

30-minute consultations with a health and fitness professional from Don’t Tone Alo

Marketing, Fundraising and Events Volunteer

Hours: Variable dependent on availability. Regular fundraising support or casual events support on an as-required basis.

Reporting to: Marketing and Communications Officer

Main Tasks:

To support the Marketing and Communications Manager in organising and delivering fundraising projects.
To support the Marketing and Communications Manager in updating social media platforms, website and printed materials.
To contribute towards planning and delivery of Carers Lewisham Marketing and Fundraising strategy.
To attend fundraising events and work with Carers Lewisham staff to encourage donations.

Volunteer Walk Leader

Hours: A minimum of 10 hours per month during term time. Hours will increase during school half terms and summer breaks.

Reporting to: Young Carers Service Manager and/or Lead Young Carers Activity Worker.

Main purpose of the role: To support the running of term time and/or holiday activity days, clubs and residentials which gives young carers, aged 5 to 16 years old, respite and social development opportunities. Monthly Saturdays clubs and day outings are usually 09:00 to 18:00.
