Exercise classes for carer

DTAWeekly exercise classes for carers in four different part of the borough. Just pick the right one for you and your need. Click on the picture to see details.

Exercise classes will end on the 15th December and restart on the week of the 8th January.

New Self Management courses

bekir-donmez-335320In partnership with Self management UK, we offer a FREE course that will allow you to learn skills and techniques that will help you in your role as a carer.

If you would like to improve your well being and you care for someone with a long-term health condition then this course is for you. Register today!

 January Dates:

  • Mondays: 22nd January 2018 to 26th February 2018, at Carers Lewisham, 12:30pm – 3:30pm 
  • Tuesdays: 6th February to 13th March, at the Albany, 12:30pm – 3:30pm

 

 

Regular Activities

Osteopathy Service

OsteopathyMark Woolman, is offering reduced rate osteopathic treatment for carers on Tuesday evenings between 4pm and 8pm at Carers Lewisham.

Osteopathy is an effective and gentle form of manual therapy for discomfort related to posture and movement.

Complementary Therapies

24726Every Tuesday, 4-8pm, at Carers Lewisham we offer a choice of two different therapies that will help you to relax and have a break.

  • Aromatherapy Massage and Reflexology: Laura (079 7318 3711)
  • Reflexology and Indian head massage and seated acupressure massage: Catherine (077 5155 1203)

The service has a price of £10 for half an hour. You can book your place calling directly the numbers above.

Coffee Mornings

Would you like an opportunity to get information and support? Our regular weekly  Coffee Mornings are open to all carers of any age or caring responsibility.

We organise regular weekly Coffee Mornings and Carers Support Groups in different location of Lewisham borough. You can drop in to the session and you don’t have to book. Expect a warm welcome !

Every Tuesday, 10.30am-12.30pm, Carers Lewisham, Forest Hill.

On the second Wednesday of the month, 11.30am-1.30pm. South Lewisham GP.

 

Male Carers Support

Close-up-of-a-diverse-group-of-men1Many men are carers too and sometimes they get overlooked. If you would like to meet up with other men who have caring responsibilities for mutual advice and support, plus occasional outings, Carers Lewisham has a support group for men who are carers that meets once a month at Carers Lewisham on the last Thursday of the month 10.30-12.30.

Parent Carers Support

75456011_parent-carers_384x188Do you care for a child with special needs? Would you like some support for yourself. Would you like to meet other parents in similar situations?

Come along and meet other parents caring for children with special needs at the Parent Carer Coffee Morning (Carers Centre on the 3rd Wednesday of every month 10.30-12.30)  and at the Parent Carer Drop In at Kaleidoscope.

Mental Health Carers’ Support

mentalhealthDo you care for or support a relative who has mental health problems such as Bi-Polar disorder; Schizophrenia; Clinical Depression; Eating Disorders?

Carers Lewisham has a worker who support carers who are caring for relatives who have mental health difficulties and carers who themselves may have mental health difficulties such as anxiety or depression.

Compass Centre on the last Tuesday of the month 5.30-7.30pm.

Carers Centre, Forest Hill, on the first Wednesday of the month 10.30am-12.30pm.

 

Mental Health Forum

Publication1Join the Carers Mental Health Forum! it’s open to anyone who look after a relative or friend with mental health issues.

Every last Tuesday of the month, 1.30-3pm at Carers Lewisham, Waldram Place, Forest Hill, SE23 2LB.

 

 

 

Individual Advice

teen_counsellingIf you have a difficult problem and would like one to one advice or support  we can make an appointment to see you at our Carers Centre in Forest Hill.

Contact Carers Lewisham to make an appointment. There is a waiting list but we will try to see you as soon as possible.

 

 

 

 

SLaM Recovery College

The workshops and courses aim to provide tools to help you to become an expert in your own recovery or that of someone you care for. The courses are free of charge and are co-run by trainers who have experienced mental health difficulties working alongside trainers from mental health professions.
