NHS want to hear your views on Equalities and Diversity
The Equalities Act 2010 set out the duties of public services with regard to 9 ‘protected groups’ defined under the act. The groups are classified by:gender, age, ethnicity, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, transgender, pregnancy and disability.
The NHS are committed to ensuring that our health services are provided in a way that is fair and recognises and respects the needs of all people including people who would define themselves as being within one of more of those 9 protected groups.
As part of this commitment, the NHS are carrying out a thorough assessment of how we are currently performing and where we need to improve. They would like to involve local people and patients in this work. They are running a focus group on January 19th 2012 (mid-morning) at University Hospital Lewisham.
