Volunteering at Carers Lewisham

We have over 90 people volunteering at Carers Lewisham and without volunteer support we would not be able to provide the wide range of support we offer to carers in the Borough so ALL volunteers are valued members of the Carers Lewisham Team. Where appropriate we offer training and supervision as well as social events and we participate in National Volunteer Week annually.

Volunteers carry out a wide range of tasks, so if you have time or skills to offer please get in touch. To apply please complete the application form below and return to Carers Lewisham. We will need two references from people who are not related to you and for professional volunteers, evidence of qualifications will be needed plus CVs.

We pay volunteers out of pocket expenses including travel (public transport costs) and lunch when you work for 5 hours or more.

Below are some of the areas where we regularly recruit volunteers:

Day time volunteers needed for the following roles:

Reception – a once a week 3 to 4 hour commitment – good spoken English, attention to detail and a friendly welcoming personality

Administration – weekly – skills in IT and attention to detail needed

Therapists – qualified masseurs, qualified nurses, other qualified health professionals and therapists - time commitment varies. Contact us for more information.

Counselling – minimum skills at diploma level year two level – weekly commitment required to see 3 clients.

Newsletter packing – quarterly help needed

Carers Group Supporters – weekly/fortnightly/monthly commitments required. Friendly and welcoming personalities needed

Evening/After School /Saturday Volunteers Needed – CRB check required:

Young Carers Mentors – 2/3 hours once a week for 20 weeks

Young Carers Case Workers – 2/3 hour once a week

Young Carers Activities helpers – 2-6 hours per week – Tuesday/Thursday after school 3.30-6pm or alternate Saturdays

Counsellors interested in working with Young Carers – minimum skills at diploma level year two level – weekly commitment required to see 1/2 clients

One Off Fundraising Events Volunteers

If you can’t commit to regular volunteering you still can help us with one off fundraising events such as collections, bag packing, fairs, etc. Just send an application to register your interest and we will contact you when your help is needed to check your availability. No particular skills needed, only your enthusiasm and energy!
