Schools are incredibly important for recognising and supporting Young Carers.
Carers Lewisham has been working to support schools in Lewisham for many years, funded by Lewisham Council, and through that work we have developed resources specifically targeted at schools to help school identify Young Carers and raise awareness in schools and break some of the common prejudices held about illnesses, disabilities and mental health problems.
