Support for Young Carers 8-18

Carers Lewisham supports carers of all ages living in the London Borough of Lewisham. The Young Carers Service supports young people who are aged between 8-18 years and who live in a family where someone is affected by a long term illness, disability, mental health issue, alcohol or substance misuse or HIV.

The Young Carers Service aims to provide the following:

  • After school clubs every Tuesday and Thursday during school term time
  • One to one support, opportunities to talk to someone who will listen
  • Mentoring
  • Art Therapy
  • Opportunities to meet other young carers
  • Activities (during school holidays)
  • Helpline
  • Newsletter
  • Health information sessions
  • Young Carers Forum
  • Help with accessing funding
  • Home visits
  • Help to parents to access support for themselves

Our Facebook groups provide a safe environment where cares can exchange experiences and seek support when needed. The groups are closed and moderated so only carers registered with us can participate, and all inappropriate posts are deleted. You also need to be registered on Facebook to be able to participate. All posts within the group are private and will not show on your wall. There are training sessions available for carers on Facebook and Twitter, have a look at our Events page or the latest newsletter for updated dates.
