Established in 1988, Carers Lewisham is a charity that supports adult and young carers in the borough of Lewisham. A carer is anyone who looks after a relative or friend who due physical or mental illness, disability, frailty or addiction, cannot manage without their support. We currently provide a range of advice, information and support to over 2,000 carers in the borough of Lewisham from age 8 and upwards.
The post of Carers Support Officer is within our Adult Carers Service Team. The requirements of the post will include pro-active identification of carers through outreach activities, running peer support groups, delivery of carer assessments and providing information, advice, guidance and emotional support to carers. The post holder will also be expected to contribute towards the monitoring and evaluation of the service, as well as towards the organisations communication strategy.
To be successful you will have experience of working with adults either in a 1:1 or group setting, working knowledge of social care and health, particularly in relation to adults and have excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills. You will also be highly organised with the ability to manage a varied workload. Applications from carers or candidates with experience of being a carer are welcomed.
In return, you will benefit from working for a not-for-profit organisation that delivers a service which makes a real difference to people’s lives. We offer training, good annual leave entitlement, flexible working options and a workplace pension.
