FUNDRAISING OFFICER (TRUSTS, FOUNDATIONS, LOTTERY)
Fantastic opportunity for a fundraiser with drive, enthusiasm and ambition to help grow and expand a highly-regarded and successful charity and social enterprise.
Carers Lewisham is an independent charity and social enterprise which reaches over 8,000 adult carers and over 500 young carers in South London. We have very ambitious plans for growth in size and service delivery which we aim to achieve through a mixture of enterprise and charity.
At least 10% of the population are carers at any point in time and 3-in-5 of us will be carers at some point in our lives. Caring can be incredibly rewarding and fulfilling, but it can also be incredibly emotionally and physically tough, and carers are far more likely to suffer from social and economic isolation as well as mental and physical health difficulties. Despite filling a critical role in health and social care, they are often overlooked and taken for granted by the very systems, processes and organisations which rely on them to fill service gaps. Our role is to support carers by providing them with information and advice as well as practical, emotional and therapeutic support that will help prevent or delay their needs escalating and allow them to continue caring whilst leading independent lives.
The implementation of the Care Act and the Children & Families Act alongside the unprecedented financial constraints facing the public sector present huge challenges and opportunities to us. To help us capitalise on these opportunities, seek out new ones, and face up to future challenges, we are seeking to strengthen our team with the appointment of a Fundraising Officer who will work closely with the Marketing & Communications Manager and Chief Executive to successfully deliver a step-change in charitable project income.
You will be starting from a strong base. Our Chief Executive has a wealth of experience in the sector and you will have the full support of a committed and enthusiastic board of directors as well as a fantastic staff team. We also have an incredibly strong relationship with Lewisham Council and Lewisham CCG based upon partnership and trust, and we are working very closely with them as a strategic partner to ensure that vital services are delivered to carers. More importantly, we have a great relationship with our carers who are passionate about their organisation and who are very involved in identifying needs and developing ideas and projects that meet those needs.
The successful candidate must be able to work effectively within a small team of staff, where mutual support is vital to the achievement of the charity’s objectives. They must have some experience in fundraising, ideally within a carer or health & social care setting. They will have excellent administrative, communication, organisational and IT skills as well as an excellent standard of education. Above all, we value creativity, initiative, determination and honesty.
To apply, please submit the equal opportunities form alongside a comprehensive CV and supporting statement which clearly addresses the person specification and sets out why you are interested in the position.
Application should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
