We are here to support people who were caring for someone who has passed away and who are grieving. Our weekly bereavement support group is specifically for carers, so you can share your memories and feelings and hear from others who have experienced a similar kind of loss.
What happens at the bereavement support group?
Everyone’s experience of grief is unique, but sharing experiences and feelings with people who understand what you are going through can really help. Our trained facilitators create a safe and confidential environment to share with others in a similar position. There are no rules about having to speak, you are more than welcome to just to come and listen.
Facilitators can also provide information about benefits, services and other issues you might be coping with related to the death of person you cared for.
Is it just for those who have recently been bereaved?
We know that grief doesn’t follow a timetable, so our support is there for carers whether the person they are grieving for died recently or some time ago.
And because coping with grief can be unpredictable, the sessions are drop-in, so people can come every week, or whenever they feel like they would like to.
Join us from 10am – 12pm every Monday at our Carers Hub in Waldram Place.
