Counselling
Our counselling service offers dedicated time and a confidential space to talk about your caring role and any issues and challenges you are facing.
Through our 1-2-1 sessions with a trained and sympathetic counsellor, we support you to talk through the things that are troubling you, find coping strategies and avoid reaching crisis point.
Carers can use the service at any time, but we know that some of the key points when people often need us are when they first take on caring responsibilities, when the person they are caring for is moving into residential care, and when they are coping with bereavement. Counselling can also be helpful if you are caring for someone with particular health concerns, such as those with dementia, mental health needs or substance misuse.
We can provide up to 12 sessions for free, after which we are able to provide further sessions at a subsidised cost.
If you would like to use our counselling service, you do not need to be referred, you can refer yourself. You just need to complete our Contact Form, this will be assessed by a counsellor and you will then be matched with the therapist best able to support you by our Clinical Supervisor.
We’re recruiting!
We are currently recruiting volunteer counsellors who are qualified at level 4 or above to undertake sessions with the opportunity for regular support from a Clinical Supervisor. If you might be interested in the role, you can download our Student counsellor role profile, including details of how to apply.
